OPERATIONS MANAGER

We're looking for an Operations Manager to join our team in a senior role. This position involves overseeing the production of goods and ensures the production organization is meeting the expectations and needs of Customers: Quality, Service, Cost.  The Operations Manager is responsible for flawless execution and control of processes and/or projects such that product is made consistent with company strategy, commitments, and goals.  This includes managing Safety, Quality, Production and Productivity, Environmental Impact, Delivery and Costing.  Key aspects of the role include Continuous Process Improvements, Zero Defect mindset, Inventory Control, and Lean Six Sigma Implementation with results in equipment uptime, on-time delivery, effective training, productivity, and new product manufacturing processes.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. 

  • Manage to monthly Customer forecast/demand
  • Maintain key dashboard metrics and reporting
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement (visual workplace, flow, lean manufacturing, TPS/WCM, etc.)
  • Develop and support a preventative maintenance system (TPM)
  • Plan and manage capital equipment and expenditures
  • Daily Asalchi (Gemba Board) meetings
  • Ensure that communication between production departments is ongoing and utilized to maintain an environment of continuous improvement
  • Production planning and make sure the business is adequately resourced
  • Identify any skills gaps in the organization and initiate recruiting as needed
  • Train staff and managers to ensure skill sets needed to meet needs of the business
  • Develop staff and manage a succession plan in the key operational positions
  • Provide a leadership support function to teams and motivate staff to achieve production goals
  • Budget planning and execution
  • Liaison to senior management and other functional areas such as R & D and Sales
  • Monthly communication meetings with all production employees
  • New process technology implementation and keep abreast of emerging technologies
  • Develop new process technologies for in-house manufacturing
  • Industry 4.0

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NECESSARY:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering required
  • 5+ years of experience in operations management, including forecasting, scheduling and real time operations management; strong preference given to experience with medium-sized company manufacturing similar product technologies
  • Experience supervising, coaching and developing staff
  • Strong computer skills, and knowledge of ERP is strongly preferred
